ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division of Pakistan has issued a new official notification confirming that prices of key petroleum products will remain unchanged for the next week.
This follows the Prime Minister’s decision to reject a proposed increase in fuel rates, citing public concerns.
According to the notification, high-speed diesel will remain at Rs. 335.86 per liter and petrol at Rs. 321.17 per liter
The government has stated that it will cover the price difference for Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and bear the financial impact of rising global fuel costs.
Additionally, the notification announced that light diesel oil (LDO) has been raised by Rs. 22.03 per liter to Rs. 365.62 per liter, while kerosene (matti ka tail) has been increased by Rs 4.66 per liter, making its new price Rs. 433.40 per liter. The adjustments are effective immediately.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had noted that a summary recommending a Rs. 95 per liter increase for petrol and Rs. 203 per liter for diesel was submitted. Considering the potential hardship to the public, the government rejected the proposal and decided to maintain existing fuel prices, absorbing a total additional cost of Rs. 56 billion.
