ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a new spell of rains with thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from October 2 to October 7, 2025, while warning of flash flooding and landslides in the upper regions.
According to the Met Office, most districts of KP are expected to receive windstorms, thunderstorms, and heavy showers during this period. Peshawar and other upper, central, and southern districts may also witness a rise in water flow in rivers and seasonal streams.
The districts of Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Upper & Lower Chitral, Dir, Khyber, Kohistan, Kolai Pallas, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, and North Waziristan have been identified as highly vulnerable to landslides due to continuous rainfall.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KP has directed all district administrations to remain on alert and take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted between October 5 and October 7.
According to PDMA Punjab, upper catchment areas of rivers are likely to receive significant rainfall, which may cause increased water flow in rivers and adjoining nullahs.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in vulnerable areas, to remain cautious during this spell of heavy rainfall.
