ISLAMABAD: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir convened a meeting to deliberate on the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied territory.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the meeting provided a comprehensive review of the political and security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
The session was chaired by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Yousef A.M., and attended by member states including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Niger, and Azerbaijan. A delegation representing the genuine voices of the Kashmiri people also actively participated in the discussions.
Foreign Office official Tariq Fatemi strongly condemned India’s ongoing attempts to consolidate its illegal occupation, its enactment of oppressive laws, and demographic manipulation in the region.
He urged the OIC to exert diplomatic pressure on India to end its repressive measures and release political prisoners, emphasizing that sustainable peace and stability in South Asia are contingent upon a just and comprehensive resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir has consistently engaged with member states and international forums to spotlight the plight of the Kashmiri people.
Its meetings serve as a platform to coordinate diplomatic strategies, amplify awareness of human rights violations, and advocate for a peaceful settlement in strict accordance with international law.
