NOSHKI: An oil-laden truck caught fire in the Noshki district of Balochistan, leading to a powerful explosion that left 40 people severely burnt.
According to Deputy Commissioner Noshki Amjad Soomro, 15 of the injured are in critical condition and are being shifted to the Trauma Centre of the Civil Hospital for urgent treatment.
Reports stated that after the fire broke out, the truck driver managed to move the vehicle away from the populated area. However, when the fire brigade team arrived to extinguish the blaze, a massive explosion occurred due to the presence of oil, engulfing the fire truck as well.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that emergency measures were immediately imposed in local hospitals to provide medical aid to the injured. He added that an investigation into the tragic incident is underway.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the incident. In his statement, he called for an immediate inquiry into the explosion and urged authorities to ensure better treatment facilities for the injured and take measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
