Oil Tankers Association Urges PM to Reduce Diesel Prices

ISLAMABAD: The Oil Tankers Association has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reduce diesel prices amid rising transportation costs and public hardship.

According to Senior Vice Chairman Khanzada Khan Mahsud, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recently increased oil tanker freight rates by 28%. However, he emphasized that this increase alone is not sufficient to address the challenges faced by the sector.

Mahsud pointed out that the government had earlier reduced petrol prices by 80 rupees and urged similar relief for diesel consumers. He stressed that the current economic situation has made life increasingly difficult for the public.

He further highlighted that many salaried individuals are being forced to abandon the use of motorcycles due to high fuel costs and are now relying on overcrowded public transport.

The association called on the government to take immediate action to ease the financial burden on both transporters and the general public.
