ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq has been temporarily paused in respect of Eid al-Fitr and following requests from brotherly Islamic nations.
According to Minister Tarar, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey requested the suspension of the operation. The ceasefire will be in effect from the night of March 18–19 until the night of March 23–24. He emphasized that Pakistan’s decision reflects goodwill, but any hostile action across the border or attacks on Pakistan, including drone strikes or terrorism, will lead to the resumption of the operation with full force.
Minister Tarar reported that during the operation 707 insurgents were killed, over 938 wounded, 255 militant posts were destroyed, and control of 44 posts was secured, 237 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery pieces were destroyed, 81 militant hideouts in Afghanistan were targeted in aerial strikes.
Operations continued on the night of March 16 in Kabul and Nangarhar, where drones and weapon systems were destroyed. Taliban posts were also targeted in Bajaur, Kurram, Torkham, Khyber, and North and South Waziristan.
