ISLAMABAD: The opposition alliance has announced that it will launch a protest movement starting Friday (tomorrow) against the 27th Constitutional Amendment and other policies of the government.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, along with other senior opposition leaders, stated that while they were willing to engage in negotiations with the government, any dialogue will be conditional on the restoration of their political mandate.

Achakzai emphasized that their stance remains firm and non-negotiable on this core issue.

The National Assembly approved the 27th Amendment bill yesterday with a two-thirds majority, marking a significant move by the government in the constitutional domain.

The newly drafted amendment text is now scheduled to be presented to the Senate today for further approval, continuing the legislative process.

In a dramatic demonstration of protest, Mahmood Khan Achakzai tore up a copy of the amendment bill inside the National Assembly, symbolizing his strong opposition to the measure.

This act has drawn widespread media attention and highlights the intensity of the political confrontation between the opposition and the government.

Political analysts suggest that the upcoming protests could escalate tensions across the country, particularly as the opposition seeks to mobilize public support against the amendment.
