It is an undeniable fact that whenever a disaster, whether natural or man-made, strikes the world, the greatest burden falls upon ordinary people who are already going through rough patch. Be it any pandemic or ongoing conflict, in our beloved country, those in power often appear poised to make the downtrodden bear the brunt of the consequences.

In times of crisis, the true strength of a nation is reflected in how its leaders respond to the challenges faced by its people. Disasters, whether natural or man-made, test not only the resilience of citizens but also the wisdom and responsibility of those in power. But unfortunately, it is often observed that the burden of such difficult situation is placed on the weak shoulders of ordinary people rather than being managed with justice and foresight.

From education to transportation, it is consistently the common people who suffer the most while leaders find it easy to shift responsibilities onto them.

Instead of adopting well planed and thoughtful strategies, leaders often never hesitate to take abrupt decisions without carefully considering their long-term results.

The government should have reflected deeply before increasing oil prices second time as alternative measures could have been introduced to ease the economic strain caused by ongoing conflicts in middle east.

Decision-makers could have explored options such as raising fuel prices exclusively for the elite class in lieu of placing additional pressure on common citizens, who are often the sole breadwinners of their families.

Another practical approach could have been the collection of data regarding private vehicle owners through deputy commissioners in major districts so that relief measures were directed towards deserving individuals.

Similarly, in lieu of imposing a complete shutdown of schools, authorities could have allowed institutions to remain open for students residing nearby while those traveling from distant areas could have been advised to rely strictly on public transportation.

Limiting the increase in fuel prices to the affluent class could have served as a more balanced and sane solution. Leaders and officials should have led by example by reducing their luxurious lifestyles and unnecessary privileges during such difficult times.

This would have been a great time for them to showcase true leadership by standing in solidarity with the people going through rough patch. Even modest sacrifices on their part could have solidified public trust and reflected genuine commitment to the welfare of the nation.

Effective leadership is not about making decisions but about making fair and thoughtful choices that protect the most vulnerable members of country.

A nation progresses when its leaders prioritize the well-being of its people over convenience and privilege of their own. Ergo, it is essential for those in authority to adopt balanced policies, act responsibly and stand alongside their citizens, especially in times of crisis.
