Over 1.8m Pakistanis left country in two years: KP govt’s adviser

Presents bleak picture of all economic indicators without giving reference to any study or report.

PESHAWAR: An adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on finance on Saturday claimed that over 1.8 million Pakistanis have left the country in the last two years, though he did not give any reference to substantiate his claim.

In a statement, the adviser Muzammil Aslam said that the since the ouster of the PTI government economic growth and foreign investment had stalled in the country. He said that the industrial growth in the country under the federal government had been zero.

The adviser to the PTI government in KP alleged that the federal government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was stopping the release of funds to the provinces. Without giving any reference, he said that the there had also been a record increase in the level of poverty in Pakistan. 

The adviser also claimed that foreign investment in the country had decreased to the record low level in the last two years. He said that rising inflation had broken the purchasing power of the masses and forced over 1.8 million Pakistanis to leave the country.
