QUETTA: More than 30 Pakistani pilgrims have died and 28 others injured in an accident in the Iranian city of Yazd, according to Iranian media reports.
The report said that 53 people, including women, were travelling in the bus when it overturned after crossing a checkpost. As a result, more than 30 people lost their lives and 28 others were injured.
The Iranian media reports said that rescue personnel and ambulances reached the spot and retrieved the dead bodies and the injured. An emergency was later declared in hospitals of the area where the injured were shifted and being treated.
Syed Athar Shamsi, who was incharge of the arrangements for the pilgrims, said that the pilgrims were travelling in two bases. He said that he was also travelling in one of the buses which was stopped at a checkpoint for checking out passports and visas. He said the other bus got ahead of the second bus and after a while met with the accident.
The bus that met with the accident had gone from Larkana in Sindh. This bus was carrying over 50 people including 14 women. As many as 10 of the pilgrims were from Khairpur and six from Kashmore.
