KARACHI: Police here have registered cases against over 4,000 activities and supporters of the embattled PTI for taking out rallies without permission and resorting to violence.
The Frere police station registered an FIR against the PTI activists under different sections of the law including Anti-terrorism Act 1997.
According to the FIR, the PTI workers launched a campaign on social media to hold election rallies in different parts of Karachi on January 28. They took out small rallied that merged at Teen Talwar Clifton.
When the police tried to disperse them for holding the gathering without obtaining permission, they clashed with the law enforcement personnel and also damaged public abd privately property by resorting to violence.
According to the FIR, many of the PTI activists were also carrying weapons and opened firing creating fears among the local people. They also pelted vehicles snd police with stones and caused damages to shops, resulting in the closure of markets.
The police later arrested 15 PTI workers and shifted them to the Frere police station for further legal action.
Raids were being conducted by the police to trace and arrest the other workers of the party involved in violence, said the police.
