Over 44 Million Children Vaccinated in 2026’s First Polio Drive

ISLAMABAD: In the first nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026, more than 44.1 million children were vaccinated across the country, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).

The six-day campaign concluded on Sunday and targeted children under the age of five in all provinces and regions.

NEOC officials reported that Punjab led the campaign with over 22.9 million children administered polio drops. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nearly 7.1 million children were vaccinated, while Sindh recorded over 10.4 million vaccinations.

In Balochistan, approximately 2.324 million children received the vaccine. The campaign also covered federal and northern regions, with more than 455,000 children vaccinated in Islamabad, over 261,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and more than 673,000 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The NEOC urged parents and guardians to ensure their children are vaccinated in every campaign, emphasizing that repeated doses are essential for complete protection against polio.
