Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain has claimed a significant increase in overseas employment opportunities for Pakistanis, attributing it to the government’s effective policies and international outreach.
In a private TV talk show, the minister said more than 760,000 Pakistanis found work abroad last year, with a notable rise in the number of women workers. He emphasized that this was a clear reflection of the government’s successful initiatives to provide legal, safe, and dignified employment avenues for Pakistanis.
Chaudhry Hussain also pointed out key agreements that have expanded job opportunities. Italy has allocated a quota of 10,500 workers for Pakistan, and Belarus has signed a similar agreement. Negotiations with other European and Middle Eastern countries are also ongoing.
He further revealed that 70 Pakistanis, including two women, have secured jobs in South Korea, and Kuwait has reopened its visa system for Pakistanis after 15 years, sending 1,200 nurses abroad.
The Minister stressed the importance of sending workers through legal channels to safeguard Pakistan’s international reputation and improve remittance systems. He also announced a reduction in the age limit for housemaids from 35 to 25 years, allowing more women to work abroad.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan is progressing steadily, with a focus on addressing the needs of overseas Pakistanis and empowering youth with global skills.
