ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis sent a total of $3.41 billion back home in October 2025, marking a 7.34% increase compared to September.

This surge in remittances continues a positive trend, underscoring the vital role of expatriates in Pakistan’s economy, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

The State Bank added that the cumulative remittances for the first four months of the current fiscal year have reached $12.95 billion, reflecting a 9.32% year-on-year increase. This increase in remittances is seen as a crucial support to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves amid ongoing economic challenges.

In terms of geographical distribution, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) topped the list, sending $690 million in October. The United Kingdom followed with $480 million, and the European Union countries contributed $450 million. Meanwhile, remittances from other Gulf nations amounted to $340 million, and the United States sent $290 million in the same month.

Among the key contributors, Saudi Arabia played a major role, with remittances totaling $3.13 billion in the first four months of the fiscal year. This indicates the strong connection between Pakistan and the Gulf region, which continues to be a significant source of financial support for Pakistan’s economy.

The continued growth in remittances is being attributed to various factors, including improved banking channels, the efforts of Pakistani diplomats to facilitate money transfers, and a broader trend of increasing financial inclusion for overseas workers. These funds are crucial in stabilizing Pakistan’s balance of payments and providing much-needed relief to its foreign exchange reserves.
