Pak approves $15 million grant to buy Corona vaccine

The Economic Co-ordination Committee approved a 15 million US dollar supplementary grant for the purchase of the corona vaccine. In the first phase, the vaccine will be provided to health workers and people over the age of 65.

A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh. The ECC directed the Ministry of National Health to negotiate with the World Bank and other agencies for the purchase of the vaccine, which would initially reach 5% of the population. Rescheduling the G20 loans for six months, the ECC also approved interest payments.

The ECC approved a grant of Rs 19.65 billion for the arrears of Steel Mills employees, Rs 50 crore for the Ministry of Education and Rs 689.3 million for NITB. It also allowed Engro Fertilizers to supply 2.25 million cubic feet of gas and Punjab to import 340,000 tonnes of wheat.
