ISLAMABAD: Foreign ministers from 21 Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, have jointly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on Iran, labeling them as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law.

In a joint communiqué, the ministers expressed strong disapproval of what they called Israeli aggression beginning on June 13, emphasizing the need to respect the principles of regional sovereignty, territorial integrity, and good neighborliness.

The statement warned that the escalating tensions pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability, and called for immediate efforts to de-escalate the situation and achieve a ceasefire in the Middle East.

The ministers stressed the urgent need for a nuclear weapons-free and WMD-free Middle East, highlighting the danger posed by continued hostilities and arms proliferation.

The communiqué urged all countries to adhere to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and emphasized that any attack on nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards constitutes a grave breach of international law.

Additionally, the ministers called for the resumption of negotiations for a sustainable agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, terming diplomacy the only viable path forward.

The statement also underlined the importance of maritime security and freedom of navigation in international waterways, amidst growing concerns over disruptions in global sea routes.
