WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has said that Pakistan is playing a facilitative role in ongoing diplomatic efforts related to the Iran-US tensions, the recent ceasefire and the dialogue process taking place in Islamabad.

Speaking on NBC’s renowned program Meet the Press, the ambassador said that high-level diplomatic efforts had been underway to support both the ceasefire and the ongoing negotiation process. He noted that Pakistan has upheld its long-standing tradition of constructive diplomacy by contributing positively to de-escalation efforts.

Ambassador Sheikh stated that Pakistan received support and assistance from key partners including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkiye, and others during the diplomatic engagement. He added that the parties involved in the Islamabad talks demonstrated a constructive and positive spirit throughout the process.

He further said that dialogue and mutual understanding would help in resolving complex issues, emphasizing that Pakistan is primarily acting as a facilitator while the responsibility for resolving outstanding matters rests with the concerned parties.

The ambassador also noted that both Pakistan and the international community are expressing goodwill toward the success of the process, adding that diplomacy must be given a full and meaningful opportunity at this crucial time.
