Pakistan and Micronesia Establish Diplomatic Relations

NEW YORK: Pakistan and the Pacific island nation of Micronesia have officially established diplomatic relations.

The signing ceremony took place at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, where Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, and Micronesia’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Jim S. Lepowe, signed a joint communiqué formalizing the relationship.

The event was attended by diplomats from both countries, including Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Ambassador Usman Jadun.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed expressed his delight that the diplomatic ties are being established on the anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

The establishment of formal relations is expected to strengthen political and diplomatic cooperation between the two nations and open avenues for future collaboration.
