UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmed has praised the role of the U.S. president in efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, calling the situation “delicate and uncertain.”

In an interview with a British television channel, Ambassador Iftikhar stated that Pakistan remains committed to a permanent ceasefire with India and is actively working towards sustainable peace in the region.

He emphasized that the Kashmir issue remains central to the conflict between the two nuclear neighbors, describing it as a critical and unresolved matter. He reiterated that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is essential for lasting peace in South Asia.

“Pakistan appreciates the constructive role of the U.S. President in pushing for a ceasefire. However, the situation on the ground remains fragile,” said Ambassador Iftikhar.

He further stressed that without addressing the Kashmir issue, sustainable peace in the region will remain elusive.
