ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month.
This marks the country’s eighth term as a non-permanent member of the council.
According to Ishaq Dar, Pakistan will chair two high-level meetings during its presidency: The first will focus on the peaceful settlement of disputes and conflict resolution and the second will address cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He emphasized that Pakistan seeks partnership with all member states, reaffirming the country’s commitment to the UN Charter, international law, and the principles of multilateralism.
Ishaq Dar also underlined the need for an effective global response to rising conflicts and crises, pledging that Pakistan will lead the Council in an effective, proactive, and diplomatic manner.
