Pakistan-Azerbaijan Defense Cooperation Highlighted in GHQ Meeting

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, met with Colonel General Karim Valiyev, Chief of General Staff of Azerbaijan.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest and included discussions on the current global and regional security situation.

Colonel General Karim Valiyev praised the professional expertise and achievements of the Pakistan Army during the “Operation Haq” campaign.

Both sides exchanged well-wishes on the occasion of Independence Day and Victory celebrations. In response, the Army Chief thanked the leadership and people of Azerbaijan for their support.

The Army Chief expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s sending of a military contingent to participate in Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations and for their continued support during Operation Haq.

Colonel General Valiyev awarded Field Marshal Asim Munir the “Patriotic War Medal for Services in Military Cooperation,” recognizing Pakistan-Azerbaijan defense collaboration.

ISPR reported that Colonel General Valiyev acknowledged Pakistan’s unwavering efforts in countering terrorism and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to further strengthening defense and security cooperation. He also thanked Pakistan for its hospitality and continuous support.

Upon arrival at GHQ, Colonel General Valiyev received a guard of honor from the Pakistan Army and laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial.
