Pakistan becomes non-permanent member of UNSC

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extends felicitation to nation on Pakistan's election to the world body.

NEW YORK: Pakistan on Thursday became a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. 

The voting for the membership was held at the 87th meeting of the UN General Assembly in which 182 countries supported Pakistan’s candidature. The membership is for the year 2025 to 2026. Currently, the seat for the Asia-pacific region in the UNSC is with Japan.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended felicitation to the nation on Pakistan’s becoming a member of the UNSC. He said that the confidence of the international community in Pakistan was a testament to the country’s unwavering support and struggle for world peace.
