ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers in Belarus.
The agreement was signed by Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Belarus’s Minister of Interior, Ivan Kubrakov.
The MoU will enable collaboration to provide jobs while safeguarding workers’ rights, initially focusing on the textile, energy, and construction sectors.
Labor mobility corridors will streamline recruitment and training, while pilot programs in Belarus will offer professional and language training. Migrant Resource Centers will support the overseas employment process, and selected workers may relocate with their families. A Joint Technical Group will oversee implementation.
Federal Minister Hussain noted that Pakistan ranks fourth globally in workforce supply and emphasized strengthening collaboration to meet labor demands in healthcare, construction, textile, and energy sectors. Vocational training will be mandatory for overseas employment starting next month, and strict measures are being taken to prevent illegal migration.
