ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday said that the attack on a train carrying over 400 people in Balochistan was the handiwork of elements sitting abroad with the backing of India.
In his weekly briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that the authorities have just completed the rescue operation on the Jaffar Express hit by terrorists. He said that the attack on Jaffar Express was carried out by enemies of Pakistan headed by India.
The terrorists involved in the train attack in Balochistan were in touch with their handlers in Afghanistan. During this incident, calls made to the attackers have been traced to Afghanistan, where terrorists have safe havens. The spokesperson said Pakistan had been repeatedly demanding the Afghan interim government to stop terrorist groups like BLA from using its territory. Pakistan is a victim of terrorism planned from outside its borders.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan in the past had shared full details of such incidents with Afghanistan, but the terror activities have not stopped.
He added that Pakistan’s priority the development of friendly and close relations with Afghanistan. In this direction, the continuation of relations is important. Terrorism is a serious issue for us and we have cooperation on counter-terrorism with many of our friends.
