LAHORE: The 10th spell of the monsoon has set in across Pakistan, bringing heavy rainfall to various regions and raising the risk of urban flooding.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong showers lashed several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Islamabad, and surrounding areas, triggering fears of flooding in low-lying urban centers.
In Sindh, rainfall was reported in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and Thatta, while Karachi is expected to receive torrential downpours from this evening until Thursday.
Heavy rains have also been forecast for Rahim Yar Khan, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Khanewal, DG Khan, Multan, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, with the system likely to persist until September 9.
Meanwhile, northern regions including Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kurram, Peshawar, Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Kohat, and Waziristan are also expected to experience rainfall. Authorities have warned of flash floods in hill torrents and possible landslides in mountainous areas.
Despite the risks, the downpour has brought pleasant weather to parts of Islamabad, with residents welcoming relief from recent heat.
