ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, mining, agriculture and energy.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, and the Canadian High Commissioner, Tariq Ali Khan.
The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in trade and investment, mineral development, agriculture, livestock and energy.
Officials highlighted Pakistan’s participation in the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2026, one of the world’s largest mining conferences.
The event is expected to provide an international platform to showcase Pakistan’s mineral potential, attract global investors and facilitate connections between Pakistani mining companies and Canadian experts.
Both sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in the dairy and livestock sectors, with an emphasis on modern farming techniques, advanced genetics and disease control to improve productivity and quality standards.
Canadian investment in renewable energy projects in Pakistan was discussed, with emphasis placed on timely approvals and the establishment of clear and consistent regulatory frameworks to encourage foreign investors.
The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations by enhancing institutional linkages and promoting private sector participation.
Pakistani officials noted that recent economic reforms and growing investment opportunities point toward a positive outlook for the national economy.
