Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation to address security challenges and promote lasting peace and stability in the region, particularly in the context of the evolving situation in Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq held a detailed meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Yue Xiaoyong, who had recently returned from Kabul following official engagements there.
During the meeting, the two envoys discussed a range of regional security issues, with particular focus on the threats posed by militant groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), which pose security challenges to Pakistan and China respectively.
In a statement shared on social media, Sadiq said the discussion included an exchange of views on the broader security environment and the implications of militant activities for regional peace and stability.
Both representatives stressed the importance of sustained coordination and collective efforts to effectively counter terrorism and ensure durable peace and stability across the region, particularly in relation to the situation in Afghanistan.
