HARARE: In an exhilarating final of the Tri-Nation Series, Pakistan Under-19 team defeated Zimbabwe by 9 wickets to claim the title.
The match, played in Harare, saw Zimbabwe bat first and score 158 runs, getting all out in the 45th over.
Pakistan’s Umar Zia was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets, while Abdul Subhan supported with 2 wickets, ensuring Zimbabwe’s collapse.
In response, Pakistan Under-19 chased down the target of 159 runs effortlessly, thanks to a record-breaking innings by opener Sameer Minhas, who led the charge. Pakistan reached the target in just the 17th over, losing only one wicket.
Sameer Minhas made history by breaking the record for the fastest century in Under-19 cricket. He achieved the remarkable feat in just 42 balls, surpassing the previous record held by India’s Vibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored a century in 52 balls against England in July last year. Minhas’ explosive knock of 114 runs off 51 balls included 17 fours and 5 sixes, making it the fastest ever in Youth One-Day International history.
Alongside him, Muhammad Shayan played a steady knock of 38 not out, contributing to the team’s commanding victory.
