Pakistan condemns Indian media’s allegations over killing of tourists

FO urges international community especially UN to take notice of deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Indian-occupied Kashmir, expressing deep sorrow and grief over the tragic incident.

The attack claimed the lives of 26 tourists, including two foreign nationals, and left over a dozen injured. Most of the victims were reportedly from the Indian states of Gujarat and Karnataka.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that Pakistan shares the grief of the bereaved families and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Terming the incident extremely unfortunate, the spokesperson highlighted the worsening security situation in the occupied valley, where innocent lives remain under constant threat.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office also rejected the baseless accusations leveled by Indian media, calling them an irresponsible and biased attempt to malign Pakistan without any evidence.

The spokesperson stated that India routinely uses such tragic incidents for propaganda purposes to divert international attention from the grave human rights violations being committed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan called upon the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to take serious notice of the deteriorating situation in occupied Kashmir and to play a meaningful role in ensuring the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.

It is worth mentioning that this tragic incident occurred at the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, spreading fear and panic throughout the valley. The attack once again underscored the reality that occupied Kashmir is no longer safe, not just for the local population but also for visiting tourists.
