UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has described the Palestine issue as the fundamental cause of instability in the Middle East and has categorically rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians as unacceptable.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar expressed deep concern over repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza.
He strongly condemned ongoing attacks, large-scale destruction, and the forced displacement of civilians in Gaza, terming them unacceptable under international law.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar also denounced attacks on United Nations facilities and UNRWA, stressing the need to protect humanitarian organizations and civilians. He said that the implementation of the peace plan under UN Security Council Resolution 2803 is essential for lasting peace in the region.
Calling for immediate action, the Pakistani envoy urged a permanent ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian assistance, and the urgent reconstruction of Gaza. He reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing position that the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, is indispensable for regional stability.
The ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and also demanded that Israel immediately cease its illegal actions in Syria and Lebanon.
