MULTAN: Pakistan broke a 20-year-old record by defeating West Indies by 127 runs in the Test match in Multan on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 251 runs on the third day of the Test match played at Multan Cricket Stadium, the entire team of West Indies returned to pavilion for 123 runs in the second innings.
Pakistani bowlers bowled only 371 balls in both the innings. This was the shortest match-winning performance by Pakistani bowlers in any Test match.
Earlier, Pakistan had bowled the fewest balls to win a Test match against Bangladesh in 2005 when the visitors played only 494 balls in Multan.
In addition, a 34-year-old record has also been broken in this Test match. As many as 1064 balls were bowled in the four innings of the Test match, which is the lowest number of balls in Pakistan’s fruitful Test matches on its soil. The previous record was held by the West Indies in 1990, when only 1,048 balls were bowled.
