HARARE: Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team secured their first victory in the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup by defeating Scotland by 6 wickets. The match was held at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe.

Scotland won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a total of 187 runs in 49 overs. Captain Thomas Knight was the highest run-scorer for Scotland with 37 runs, while Finlay Jones contributed 33 runs and Oli Jones added 30 runs. However, their innings was curtailed by a clinical bowling performance from Pakistan.

Pakistan’s bowlers were exceptional throughout the match. Fast bowler Ali Raza delivered a match-winning performance, claiming 4 wickets for just 37 runs. Spinner Momin Qamar also played a pivotal role, taking 3 wickets for 46 runs to help restrict Scotland to a modest total.

Chasing a target of 188 runs, Pakistan’s Under-19 team demonstrated great composure. The team reached the target in the 44th over, losing just 4 wickets. Opening batsman Usman Khan was the standout performer with a brilliant 75 runs, while Ahmed Hussain supported well with 47 runs, ensuring Pakistan crossed the line with ease.

This victory comes after Pakistan’s loss to England in their opening match of the tournament. However, the win against Scotland has given the team a much-needed boost and a chance to progress further in the competition. With a much-improved performance, Pakistan will now look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures in the tournament.
