ISLAMABAD: Pakistan carried out cross-border operations in Afghanistan, destroying seven militant hideouts and killing at least 28 terrorists while injuring 50 others, according to a statement released on Sunday.

The operation comes in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. Officials stated that intelligence-based operations targeted camps and facilities linked to “Khawarij” militants operating from Afghan territory.

According to the Ministry of Information, Pakistan possesses credible evidence that recent attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu were orchestrated by militant leaders and handlers based in Afghanistan.

The ministry asked Afghan regime to prevent the use of their soil for terrorist activities against Pakistan and called for strict implementation of the Doha Agreement, with the international community playing its role.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), added that Pakistan will continue to take action against terrorists regardless of their location. It added that there will be no leniency in operations against groups threatening national security.

Officials said that the Taliban-led Afghan government had failed to prevent its territory from being used for attacks against Pakistan.

Earlier reports indicated that attacks in Bajaur and Bannu were linked to militant elements operating from across the border.
