ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Ahmed Badr Abdel-Aati at a joint press vowed to deepen political, economic, defense, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted mutual concern over regional developments in Gaza, Kashmir, Afghanistan, and other areas of strategic importance.
The visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister reflects the longstanding historical, religious, and friendly ties between Pakistan and Egypt. Both nations expressed their determination to further strengthen collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, defense, and cultural initiatives.
The current bilateral trade volume stands at $300 million, and Pakistan will provide Egypt with a list of 250 business houses, which is expected to increase to 500 within six months.
Both countries agreed to establish the Pakistan-Egypt Business Council and the Pakistan-Egypt Business Forum, with the first meeting scheduled to take place next year in Cairo.
Egypt has committed to increasing scholarships for Pakistani students at Al-Azhar University, where Pakistani scholars will receive training focused on countering extremism, guided by the principles of the Quran and Sunnah.
Pakistan also indicated its willingness to engage Al-Azhar University in efforts to prevent extremism domestically, fostering religious and educational cooperation.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister strongly condemned terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and reaffirming Egypt’s solidarity with Pakistan.
Both countries emphasized that the fight against terrorism requires not only security measures but also social and economic strategies.
Egypt offered to share its extensive experience in combating terrorism through a comprehensive, multifaceted approach, highlighting lessons learned from its own counterterrorism strategies.
The two nations reaffirmed their joint efforts to facilitate a ceasefire in Gaza, maintaining active engagement to restore peace in the region.
