Pakistan Endorses President Xi’s Vision of Shared Progress: PM

TIANJIN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday highlighted the historic depth of Pakistan-China relations.

He said the friendship goes back to the Silk Road and Gandhara civilization, when traders and monks carried both goods and ideas across mountains and deserts.

He reminded that Pakistan was the first Muslim country to recognize China. He added that Pakistan helped carve the Karakoram Highway through rock and ice. He also recalled that a Pakistani leader was the last foreign guest received by Chairman Mao Zedong.

Addressing faculty members and students at Tianjin University, the Prime Minister said Pakistan fully endorses President Xi Jinping’s vision.

He praised China’s leadership for promoting cooperation instead of unilateralism. He said President Xi has shown the world that lasting prosperity rests on teamwork and inclusivity.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the role of youth in Pakistan’s development. He said more than 60 percent of Pakistan’s population consists of young people. He said Pakistan and China are working together to unlock this potential. He said both countries are cooperating in higher education, vocational training, and skills development.

He said about 30,000 Pakistani students are studying in Chinese universities. He added that another 1,000 agriculture graduates are being sent to China to learn modern farming techniques. He said these graduates will return to help farmers increase crop yields.

The Prime Minister urged Pakistani students in China to act as ambassadors of their homeland. He advised them to show discipline, hard work, and commitment. He said they must equip themselves with modern knowledge and innovation.
