ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is in close contact with the United States leadership and is actively engaged in continuous diplomatic consultations regarding the ongoing Middle East conflict, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said.
Addressing a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, the spokesperson stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had held contacts with their counterparts from various countries as part of Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace in the region.
He added that the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt recently visited Pakistan, where detailed discussions were held on the evolving regional situation.
Tahir Andrabi emphasized that the situation in the Middle East remains dangerous, noting that diplomacy is the only viable path toward peace. He reiterated that Pakistan remains in close coordination with the US leadership and continues diplomatic engagement at multiple levels.
The spokesperson further said that the Deputy Prime Minister’s recent visit to China holds significant importance in the current context. Pakistan and China held detailed consultations on the Middle East situation and stressed the need to ensure the security of maritime routes, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz.
He noted that the joint five-point peace plan proposed by Pakistan and China has received positive recognition both regionally and internationally. The plan has been shared with Iran, the United States, and other relevant stakeholders, while the US leadership has also appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
Tahir Andrabi added that both Iran and the United States have expressed confidence in Pakistan and acknowledged its facilitative role in easing tensions. He said that in the next phase of diplomacy, the focus will be on meaningful negotiations among the concerned parties.
