NEW YORK: Pakistan has told the United Nations that it faces serious threats from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists and its affiliated outfits.
Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Munir Akram told the United Nations Security Council that the TTP and its affiliated outfits were tragetting security forces and civilians in Pakistan especially in the two provinces located on Afghan border.
He said that the United Nations should conduct an investigation to ascertain who is providing these terrorists modern and sophisticated weapons.
It of particular concern that terrorists affiliated with the outlawed TTP fled to Afghanistan frim Swat and erstwhile FATA and started attacking Pakistani areas with backing from the Taliban regime in Kabul.
On September 6, over 200 Taliban terrorists infiltrated the border into Chitral and killed five Chitral Scouts personnel.
