UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has described the recent consultations conducted by US President Donald Trump with Arab leaders and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), alongside the subsequent announcement by Washington, as a notable and constructive development.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, expressed hope that these diplomatic efforts could make a meaningful contribution toward addressing the most urgent needs in the Middle East.
He emphasized the immediate necessity of a comprehensive ceasefire and an end to hostilities, coupled with the provision of unfettered humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
He also stressed the importance of establishing a credible political pathway toward Palestinian statehood.
Ambassador Ahmad highlighted that Pakistan, as part of these consultations, will ensure that efforts are assessed not by promises but by tangible results.
He further reiterated Pakistan’s principled position, calling for an end to occupation, a halt to indiscriminate killings, the reunion of separated families, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the guaranteeing of protection, dignity, and fundamental rights for the Palestinian people.
