KARACHI: A review mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived in Pakistan to negotiate the $7 billion program.

Sources say the IMF mission reached Karachi instead of Islamabad, and technical talks between Pakistan and the IMF will begin today.

The IMF review mission will start technical discussions at the State Bank of Pakistan and will conduct a detailed assessment of the country’s economy over the next two weeks.

According to sources, the disbursement of the $7 billion IMF installment will depend on the mission’s report.

The IMF mission will also review the impact of recent floods on the economy and budget targets.

Officials say the discussions will cover key fiscal and structural reforms, including revenue generation measures and public sector financial management, which are crucial for the continuation of the IMF program.
