ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has officially imposed a ban on the entry of Afghan truck drivers without valid visas, with the restriction taking effect across all trade crossing points with Afghanistan starting today.
According to media reports, Afghan cargo vehicles will be allowed to operate under a temporary entry document only until August 31, 2025. A formal notification regarding this decision has already been issued.
This move follows a one-year grace period granted by the Ministry of Commerce last year, during which Afghan drivers were urged to obtain proper visas to continue cross-border trade operations.
The ban is expected to have immediate implications on trade flows between the two neighboring countries, particularly for goods transported via road through major border points such as Torkham and Chaman.
The government maintains that the decision aims to strengthen border security and regulate cross-border movements in line with international norms.
