Foreign Office spokesman calls for peace in Yemen.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India on have completed their annual exchange of lists of nuclear installations and facilities under the bilateral agreement signed on December 31, 1988.

Addressing a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andarabi said that, in accordance with the agreement, both countries exchange information on their nuclear installations every year on January 1.

Pakistan handed over its list to a representative of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, while India simultaneously provided its list to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

The spokesperson also confirmed that Pakistan shared a list of 257 Indian prisoners currently held in Pakistani jails with Indian authorities, describing the step as part of ongoing efforts to promote transparency and strategic stability in the region.

Commenting on the deteriorating situation in Yemen, Andarabi expressed deep concern over the renewed violence and reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance in support of Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He said that Pakistan opposes any unilateral actions that could further destabilize the country or undermine peace efforts.

Pakistan, he said, welcomes regional initiatives aimed at de-escalation and reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, reiterating its firm commitment to the Kingdom’s security. Dialogue and diplomacy, he added, remain the only viable path toward a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The spokesperson highlighted growing engagement between Pakistan and Gulf countries. He said Saudi Crown Prince had expressed satisfaction over expanding bilateral cooperation, including in digital sectors, and conveyed his desire to undertake an official visit to Pakistan in 2026.

He also noted recent high-level contacts between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, describing them as reflective of strong bilateral ties and shared goals of regional peace and stability.

On other regional issues, Andarabi reiterated Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia and strongly rejected Israel’s reported move to recognize a so-called region within the Somali federal state.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people for an independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
