ISLAMABAD: President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit on Monday, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Upon landing in Islamabad, he was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who welcomed him along with members of his delegation.
The visit holds special significance as Pakistan and Indonesia are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
This is also President Prabowo Subianto’s first visit to Islamabad since assuming office, adding further importance to the occasion.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, President Subianto will hold delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister during his two-day stay.
He is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari as well as Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Throughout the visit, both sides will engage in comprehensive discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation across a broad spectrum of sectors, including trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate change, education, and culture.
The leadership is also expected to deliberate on strengthening regional and global partnerships, reaffirming the longstanding ties between the two nations.
The two countries will sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the visit, further institutionalizing collaboration in multiple areas of mutual interest.
