It's first high level visit from Iran after recent tension between two nations and murder of nine Pakistani laborers in Iran.

ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein n Amir-Abdollahian arrived on an official visit to Pakistan, the Foreign Office said on Monday.

He was received by an additional secretary of the Foreign Office at the Nur Khan airbase in Chaklala Rawalpindi.

The Iranian foreign minister will meet caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq and later hold talks with caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani at the Foreign Office.

The Iranian foreign minister has arrived after the two countries saw their bilateral relations nosediving following Iran’s violation of Pakistan’s air space on Jan 16.

Tehran had claimed that it successfully targeted and demolished bases of a terror outfit in Pajgur area of Balochistan.

Pakistan retaliated eith an attack on Baloch terror bases in Siestan province in which seven people were killed and according to the Iranian media the dead were no-Iranian.

However, the two nations then announced to normalize their relations and the visit of the foreign minister is part of the efforts not to repeat such violations of each other’s space.

It may be mentioned here that two days ago, nine Pakistani laborers were shot dead and three other injured by unknown people in the Saravan area of Iran bordering the Balochistan province.
