ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has reaffirmed the country’s position on regional security after a recent terrorist attack in Balochistan, saying India’s official statements inadvertently confirm Pakistan’s concerns.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Indrabi stated that the recent terrorist attack in Balochistan validated Pakistan’s position in response to comments by the Indian Foreign Ministry.

Indrabi recalled the 19th anniversary of the Samjhauta Express attack, which killed over 70 people. The main perpetrator, Swami Asim Anand, publicly admitted to the crime, as did Indian Colonel Praveen Prohit. Despite this, all four convicted attackers remain free in India, which has failed to deliver justice.

He strongly rejected the Indian Foreign Ministry’s statement, noting that the attack in Balochistan reinforces Pakistan’s position on security and counterterrorism in the region.

He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Qatar from February 23–24 at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar. The emir expressed interest in strengthening economic partnership with Pakistan. Meetings were also held with Qatar’s Minister of Defense and Minister of State.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is visiting Saudi Arabia to attend the extraordinary OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) Executive Committee ministerial meeting in Jeddah on February 26 (today).

Dar will present Pakistan’s stance against Israel’s actions in the occupied West Bank and hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of OIC member countries.
