Pakistan Lodges Protest Over Inciting Remarks at London Protest

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has issued a formal demarche to the British government following provocative and objectionable statements made during a protest outside the Pakistani Consulate in London.

The demonstration, organized by PTI, involved participants using inflammatory and offensive language against the leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces. Some protesters also made serious threats, including calls for violence against military leaders.

The government took strong notice of these threats originating from British soil. In its protest note, Pakistan urged the British authorities to ensure that its territory is not used for activities aimed at destabilizing Pakistan. Pakistan expressed hope that British laws would be used to take strict action against the individuals involved, bringing them to justice.

Video evidence and a full transcript of the protest were shared with British authorities, showing a woman inciting violence against military leadership.

In its official letter, Pakistan described the event as a serious and unprecedented misuse of British soil, stating that the actions amounted to incitement to terrorism, violence, and internal instability in a sovereign state. The letter emphasized that the protest was not merely political or rhetorical, but contained clear elements encouraging violence and assassination against high-ranking military officials of a UN member country.

Pakistan formally requested that the UK identify those involved, investigate the matter, and take legal action. The letter also called for a review of PTI UK’s role and for measures to prevent British soil from being used for spreading violence in Pakistan. The Pakistani government stressed that this issue would test the UK’s commitment to counterterrorism, international law, and responsible state conduct, warning that failure to act could undermine bilateral trust between the two countries.
