Pakistan, Malaysia to Boost Cooperation in Trade and Other Sectors

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim hold discussions on bilateral relations, regional affairs, and situation in Gaza.

KUALA LUMPUR: During Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Malaysia, Pakistan and Malaysia agreed to strengthen their bilateral relations in trade and a range of other important sectors.

The understanding was reached during a joint press conference addressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The two leaders held comprehensive discussions covering bilateral relations, regional affairs, and the situation in Gaza.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that he had engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on various regional and international issues. He emphasized that both countries are united in raising their voices against the brutalities being committed against Palestinian Muslims in Gaza and share a strong commitment to ensuring that the suffering of the Palestinian people is brought to an end.

Anwar Ibrahim further highlighted that relations between Malaysia and Pakistan have grown stronger over time. He reaffirmed that full cooperation will continue between the two countries in efforts to combat terrorism. He also stressed that lasting peace between Pakistan and India is crucial for ensuring stability and peace in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Malaysian leadership and people for their warm and enthusiastic welcome, describing Malaysia as his “second home” and saying that he felt a sense of joy and comfort upon his arrival.

He underscored the excellent and longstanding relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and praised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership qualities and his pivotal role in the development and progress of Malaysia.
