RAWALPINDI: In response to changing regional maritime security conditions, the Pakistan Navy has launched Operation “Muhafiz al-Bahr” to protect national shipping and trade.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation aims to address multiple threats to maritime commerce, ensure the continuity of national energy supplies, and secure key sea lines of communication.
Pakistan Navy ships are closely coordinating with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation to monitor and escort merchant vessels, ensuring safe passage in national waters.
The Navy is keeping constant surveillance over maritime movements to maintain the safety of merchant ships. Two vessels are currently under escort, with one expected to reach Karachi today.
Approximately 90% of Pakistan’s trade passes through sea routes. The operation seeks to maintain these vital routes in a safe, stable, and uninterrupted manner.
The Pakistan Navy is fully prepared to meet emerging maritime security challenges and remains committed to protecting national shipping and regional maritime stability.
The Navy’s proactive operation comes amid heightened regional tensions and is part of broader efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime interests and economic lifelines.
