ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering support for China’s One-China policy and reiterated that Taiwan is an inalienable and integral part of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.
Responding to media queries regarding recent developments related to Taiwan, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that Pakistan and China are “iron brothers” and all-weather strategic cooperative partners.
He emphasized that Pakistan remains firm and consistent in supporting China’s core national interests, including the issue of Taiwan. The spokesperson added that Pakistan’s position on Taiwan has not changed and reflects its long-standing commitment to the One-China principle.
The statement comes after Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his New Year address, said that the reunification of Taiwan with China is inevitable and cannot be stopped. President Xi’s remarks followed the conclusion of two-day Chinese military exercises near Taiwan.
The military drills were conducted shortly after the United States approved arms sales to Taiwan worth more than $11 billion, the largest such package in recent years.
