ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has rejected what it called a “baseless, misleading, and unjustified” statement issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding Pakistan’s ongoing operations against terrorist infrastructure in Afghanistan.
In an official response, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that India’s remarks reflect “open hypocrisy and double standards,” especially in light of India’s alleged historical role in destabilizing the region and its support for terrorism targeting Pakistan from Afghan territory.
The spokesperson further stated that it is noteworthy that such comments come from a country whose leadership has been accused of fueling Islamophobia for domestic political gains and failing to ensure accountability for violence against its Muslim population.
The statement also referenced India’s recent support for what it described as an occupying force responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent Palestinians.
“It is ironic that a state with a track record of violating international law and the UN Charter, and undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors, is now preaching adherence to these very principles,” the spokesperson added.
The Foreign Office emphasized that such statements cannot distract from the situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where, according to Pakistan, the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people continues to be suppressed in violation of relevant United Nations resolutions.
The spokesperson urged India to refrain from supporting terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil, including those designated under the United Nations Security Council sanctions regime, and to stop what was termed as “unwarranted criticism” of Pakistan’s successful counterterrorism efforts.
