ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has firmly rejected remarks made by Tulsi Gabbard suggesting that its missile capabilities pose a threat to the United States.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the country’s missile program is purely defensive in nature and designed to safeguard national sovereignty and maintain regional stability.
A spokesperson said that Pakistan’s missile range remains below intercontinental levels, directly contradicting claims that it possesses intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capabilities capable of reaching the United States.
“The strategic capabilities of Pakistan are based on a policy of credible minimum deterrence,” the statement said, adding that the program does not target any specific country.
The Foreign Office also highlighted concerns about missile developments in the region, pointing to longer-range systems tested by India, which it described as a source of concern for regional and global security.
Pakistan reiterated its desire to maintain constructive and respectful relations with the United States, stressing the importance of balanced and responsible behavior to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.
